Learn English at the University of Cape Town
As the world becomes more interconnected, English becomes increasingly important as a tool for global communication. When you enroll in the UCT English Language Centre, you join an international community of students who, like you, have chosen to expand their cultural, academic and professional horizons by learning English with the top University in Africa - the University of Cape Town.
Located in the vibrant, academically diverse Faculty of Humanities at UCT, the English Language Centre is at the hub of creativity and innovation. As a UCT student, you will be able to participate in university life and culture, make use of the university's facilities, and take part in social activities, sports clubs and other societies.
At ELC we use a student-centred approach to teaching and learning, putting the student's individual language learning needs at the heart of what we do. We believe students learn English best when engaged in real-life communication activities, which help them develop strategies for communicative competence.

I'm very happy. I improved my grammar and pronunciation. The school is family - we had social groups. I would like to come back do my PhD or any other course at UCT.

I was looking for a place that would take my goals seriously and I am very happy to be here. The teachers are excellent and the lessons are interactive.

Goodbye ELC! It was a pleasure to be with you all. I'm gonna miss you guys ... thanks for everything ♥♥♥♥ elc is really a family for us♥♥

Thank you to ELC and all the people I met in the school. Meeting people from different countries and backgrounds is great for communication, by engaging with them, I was not only able to learn about their cultures but also practise my English.

My experience at the school was more than just learning English as I gained incredible life experience! I've been back three times!!!

My aim was successful achieved with qualified and lovely teachers. UCT ELC was better but it can make more than better to become the best not only in Africa but in the World.

My experience at ELC was amazing! I had the opportunity to make friends from all the world and improve my English at the same time.
