About the UCT English Language Centre
Since 2015, the UCT English Language Centre has welcomed students from more than 90 countries, each bringing unique goals and perspectives to the classroom. We see language learning as a way to build skills, expand horizons, and connect with others — and we aim to support that journey in a practical, thoughtful way.
As part of the University of Cape Town, we combine the energy of an international language school with the academic standards of a leading university. Our approach is shaped by a commitment to quality, openness, and global connection. This section introduces who we are, what guides our work, and how we continue to grow as both a team and a place to learn.

Hear from our Students
Get a glimpse of life at ELC through the eyes of our students. They talk about learning English, navigating a new country, and building friendships that cross cultures and continents. Their journeys are as varied as their goals, whether they are preparing for university, taking a break from work, or embracing the adventure of something new.
These stories show what it really means to live, learn and grow in a diverse, international community. Life at ELC is shaped as much by the people you meet as by the English you learn.
