Message from the Dean
Our English Language Centre is located within the vibrant Faculty of Humanities, the second largest and most academically diverse faculty at the University of Cape Town. UCT is one of the few universities in Southern Africa with a dedicated unit for teaching English as a Foreign Language. Our language students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and highly qualified teachers who will help them achieve their individual language goals.
There are many reasons to learn English. For some, it is about improving career prospects since proficiency in English is a key requirement in today’s global business world. Others see English as a gateway into top colleges or universities. For many, it is simply about acquiring a new set of language skills and immersing themselves in a different culture.
By choosing to study at the UCT English Language Centre, you will join a diverse community of international students at Africa’s premier research and teaching institution. Beyond the classroom, our numerous sports clubs, student societies, and recreational facilities will keep you engaged.
