The course meets global standards and addresses the realities of teaching in both African and international contexts. You’ll complete interactive online modules covering lesson planning, classroom management, and effective teaching techniques, all with expert tutor support.
The course concludes with a one-week practical block on campus, where you’ll teach real students under professional supervision. This final week gives you essential classroom experience, personalised feedback, and the confidence to begin your teaching career.

Graduate with a 120-hour TEFL certificate accredited by the University of Cape Town.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have completed secondary school. You should already have strong English proficiency (at least C1 level) and be able to demonstrate this through your previous studies or current academic work in English.
The course runs over eight weeks. Weeks 1–7 are completed online through interactive modules, collaborative activities, and trainer guidance. In week 8, trainees attend a face-to-face teaching practice week in Cape Town.
Yes. The in-person teaching practice week is a mandatory part of the course and must always be completed in the final week of the course to qualify for certification.
Yes. The course is accredited by the University of Cape Town. This means your TEFL certificate is issued by a recognised university with a strong international reputation, giving it credibility with employers worldwide.
You’ll need a computer or laptop with a webcam and microphone, stable internet, and basic familiarity with Google Workspace tools to save, share and upload documents, navigate an online learning platform and use video call tools for online sessions.
