Flexible TEFL Training for Future English Teachers

The Blended Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) at the UCT English Language Centre prepares you to teach English to non-native speakers through a combination of online learning and with face-to-face practical training.

Designed and delivered by experienced teacher trainers, the course combines self-paced online study with in-person workshops and observed teaching practice. You'll learn how to plan engaging lessons, manage diverse classrooms, teach English effectively and adapt your approach to different learners, including multilingual learners in an African context.

Throughout the course, you'll apply your learning through practical teaching experience, receiving personalised feedback to strengthen your teaching skills. By the time you complete the programme, you'll have a recognised TEFL qualification, real classroom experience and the confidence to begin your teaching career.
