UCT English Language Centre students make the most of their time outside the classroom with their new friends and fellow English students. They take advantage of the many different things to do in Cape Town (and South Africa), from hiking and surfing, to eating out at fantastic restaurants and sightseeing.
Sometimes it’s not about being anywhere specific, but being together with people from different nationalities, races, cultures, ages and language groups and learning about things so different from what we know back at home.
Our English students come from many different backgrounds and share a common goal of learning English. And while their journey starts on the first day not necessarily knowing anyone or what to expect, they leave at the end of their course having made new friends and created incredible memories. These memories are shared with us at the UCT English Language Centre, and so we would like to share some of these with you. We will continue to update and share our student photos with you, and perhaps your photos will be in this album soon, too!
You can see the pictures students take in this album, or read what students have to say in their own words – check out Pam – from The Netherlands – Goodbye Letter to Cape Town, Mariana’s (from Brazil) video on her Language Travel Experience , Congolese Christian’s story about how he got to us or An Italian Thank You from Francesca.
Our students know that they can come to us at any time for assistance in booking tours, making plans, hiring cars, booking accommodation, or simply getting tips on where to go. We have found, however, that our students become so resourceful and adventurous that more often than not, they are teaching us new things about this beautiful place we call ‘The Mother City’ and encouraging us to walk in their footsteps.
