- What is my level?
If you have studied English at a private language school before, you will probably know what level you are. We test all students when they arrive to make sure you are placed in the class level which will suit you best.
- How long does it take to go up to the next level?
Learning English is different for everyone. We estimate that it takes 180 to 240 hours of study to improve by one level but it varies a great deal between students, depending on your language learning history and many other factors. Our teachers are trained to recognise when you are ready to go to the next level.
- How many students are in the class?
Classes have 8 to 10 students on average and a maximum of 14. Small classes ensure that your teacher is able to give you the individual attention you need.
- What is 'learner-centred teaching'?
At the English Language Centre we believe that the students are the most important factor in the learning process. Our approach recognises that different people learn in different ways, and that the role of the teacher is to facilitate the learning process according to your individual abilities, interests and learning style, and this is why you and your classmates will have an active role in deciding the material, topics and activities you will use in your class. We also want to enable you to be autonomous learners and take responsibility for your own learning.
