In our post last week, we gave you a number of reasons why you should choose Cape Town over other parts of the world. In this post, we give you a few more reasons – Art, Wine and Food and our stunning architecture.
Art
The English Language Centre is based on the Art and Drama campus, Hiddingh campus, very close to the centre of town, so sometimes there are art exhibitions outside your classroom door. Cape Town also boasts some of the most amazing art galleries in the world, including the Zeitz Mocaa which is located in the historic Grain Silo District of the V&A Waterfront. The Zeitz is the largest contemporary Art Gallery in Africa – over 9 floors!
Cape Town also hosts First Thursdays. On the First Thursday of every month the local art galleries and cultural attractions stay open until late. Our students usually make a social event of it, going for supper after having a mooch around town.

Food and Wine
There are literally hundreds of restaurants, cafes, pubs, coffee shops, fast food places and eating houses in this city! It’s a veritable smorgasbord of cuisines. Cape Town has got it all. For the best restaurants in the city, see this website. Cape Town also has one of the most amazing seafood industries in the world and we would highly recommend Fish and Chips in Kalk Bay as well as the The Codfather restaurant in Camps Bay. Or you can try a great South African tradition – a braai!
Buildings in the City
Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa with many iconic buildings. There are dozens of beautiful and historic buildings around the city centre. Most of these are still in use but a few have been converted to museums to preserve our heritage. For more of our beautiful buildings, old and new, click here.
Do you need more reasons why you should choose Cape Town? There’s the sunny weather, the people, the amazing places to see, stunning things to see and don’t forget about all the adrenalin sports you can do. We look forward to seeing you.
