A Perfect Day in Cape Town

Cape Town is a spectacular city with so many things to do. There is really something for everyone here, and it is hard to get bored. Teacher Christelle shares her idea of a perfect day in Cape Town with some great tips and links.

UCT English Language Centre in Cape Town

I love my job as an English Teacher at the Language Centre at UCT, because of all our lovely students, but also because of the location of the school.  It’s so easy to have an amazing lifestyle here – regardless of the weather or seasons – taking in culture, good food and the outdoors.  Obviously, there are many scenarios for a perfect day and the options are endless in this city, depending on what you like to do, or if you have any specific hobbies.

This is a perfect day for me….

We’ll start with an amazing walk or run (if we’re feeling energetic) along the Pipe Track which is at the top of Kloof Nek. It’s a fairly flat, easy walk and the views over Camps Bay and down the coast are just stunning.  You can also look back and see Lion’s Head form a different angle.

Then we’ll go to one of the amazing places for breakfast, perhaps Arnolds, or Wills Cafe and Deli in Oranjezicht.  Good coffee, good eggs, and good company! Or you can see this great list of Teacher Kirsten’s Top 3 Coffee Spots in Cape Town.

After getting showered, we’ll venture out to one of the Outdoor Markets in Cape Town. My favourite is in Woodstock and it is open till 2pm on a Saturday.  I love seeing all the people and the variety of food is great!

If the weather is nice, we’ll head to Kirstenbosch Gardens for a bit of a mooch around, and maybe a nap under the trees – a lovely lazy afternoon!  If that doesn’t work for you, you could always go do a bit of shopping at The Waterfront.

Finally, we’ll head to The Labia Cinema (just opposite the school) for a very cheap movie, and their Movie Meal Specials.  It’s a great place to watch old and new movies, in a very interesting building.

Wish there was more hours in the day – so much to do in Cape Town!  Love this town so much!
